This is Gary U. I am one of the UHS Correspondents. I am a member of the Umass Boston student body. I applied for the position of Correspondent fueled in part by my recent trip to Guatemala over the summer in which I became truly aware of the important of health awareness. As such, given the opportunity to spread awareness on campus, I intend to make a difference in the life of those I come in contact with by provide them with a medium through which they can explore health topics, that we as a people tend to not discuss often enough.
Student Health 101 utilizes a peer-education style and a social media based approach to delivering health messages to students across the nation. We have discovered that while students consider wellness topics to be of interest, their behavior doesn’t always support this premise. That’s why we are convinced that active distribution of the content is a major key to our success in engaging students.
